Grid Neutral at DIY SOS Children in Need Special 2025
Recently, we packed up the van and made our way from Sheffield to Cheshire to join the DIY SOS team for their Children in Need special. We were excited to be invited back again, having taken part in the 2023 Children in Need project as well. You can read more about that one here.
This time, the build was for The Joshua Tree, a brilliant children’s cancer support charity that’s been helping families across the North West since 2006. They’d outgrown their current space, and the DIY SOS crew were on a mission to expand the site with new therapy rooms, a gym, and accommodation for families who travel long distances for treatment.
We were asked to supply and install a solar system to help support the charity’s energy needs in the long run. We fitted 12 solar panels on the new roof and, like everyone on site, donated our time and work for free. A huge shout out to the team at SIG Roofing who very kindly supplied the 12 solar panels.
It’s always a pleasure to be part of these projects, especially one on this scale. With so many trades on site at once, there was a real buzz and a great sense of teamwork from start to finish.
Big thanks to the DIY SOS team for having us, and to The Joshua Tree for the incredible work they do every day. We were proud to play a small part in it.
