Spotlight Project

Background & Challenge

TEPS Yard in Hull is a supply chain warehouse and haulage supplier known for its extensive logistics network experience for over 60 years.

As part of their commitment to sustainability and newly-increased energy requirements, they were looking to install renewable energy solutions into their new warehouse facility.

Solution & Results

To support TEPS Yard’s growing energy needs, we installed a bespoke 90kW solar panel system paired with a 64kWh battery.

The system was designed around the warehouse’s long operating hours, giving them a steady supply of clean energy during the day and stored power to draw on after dark.

It’s a practical setup that reduces reliance on the grid without compromising performance. Since the switch, they’ve not only improved their energy efficiency but made strong progress toward long term sustainability.

Warehouse Solar Panels FAQs

Aerial view of a commercial building with solar panels on the roof, part of which are black and the rest white. The building has a blue exterior with the number 16 on the front. There are a few people and a white vehicle parked in front of the building, in an industrial area.
  • This varies massively, as warehouses can differ in size significantly. The larger the system, the cheaper each individual panel is, plus batteries can also affect the cost. We’d recommend getting in touch for a quote, as there’s so many things that can affect the cost.

  • For a typical warehouse with a trapezoidal steel roof, we can install and connect a system for a small to medium sized business within 1-2 weeks. Anything larger is subject to a survey, as it can take much longer depending on the size.

  • Warehouse solar panels require minimal maintenance. Rain usually cleans off dirt, though bird droppings may need manual cleaning. We recommend a maintenance check every 1-2 years to test electrical equipment and inspect the panels for any cleaning or replacement needs.

  • For a business that operates on typical working hours (9-5 Mon-Fri), a well designed solar system can cover 50-60% of a business’s annual electricity demand. With our software, we can use your past bill data to accurately predict how much you can expect to offset with a Solar system.

  • Depending on the size of the warehouse and the size of the array, absolutely! But, this will most likely be in the sunnier months. During winter, the Solar system will have a much tougher time covering your energy consumption.
