How We Helped This Yorkshire Business Cut Energy Costs by £153K a Year with Commercial Solar Panels
Earlier this year, we completed a commercial solar installation at a manufacturing facility in Yorkshire. The goal was clear. Cut carbon, reduce energy bills, and make the most of the available roof space to generate reliable and clean energy on site.
The system was carefully designed using a combination of PV*Sol and SolarEdge software. This allowed us to plan and optimise everything from layout to output before a single panel was installed.
Due to privacy reasons, we haven’t named the business, but they were happy for us to share the results.
What we installed
Built for long-term performance, this large-scale solar energy system for business featured:
- 1922 Q Cells 445 watt panels
- 961 SolarEdge optimisers
- 8 SolarEdge Synergy inverters
- A variety of orientations across several roof pitches
The final system delivers 855 kW of installed capacity.
Built for results
PV*Sol modelling helped us analyse solar potential, shading, system losses and usage patterns with precision. The result was an estimated annual output of 640.66 MWh. This offsets around 124 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
That is roughly the same as planting more than 5600 trees every year.
All of the energy produced is used directly on site. Nothing is exported to the grid. This means 100% of the solar power goes straight into reducing the facility's energy bills. The estimated savings average out at £16,000 a month, with an estimated lifetime total of more than £3.4 million.
Clean power with smart tech
Each panel is connected to its own optimiser, allowing the system to maintain strong output even if part of the array is shaded or dusty. System losses were minimal, with clipped energy at just 0.3% over the course of the year.
Installation was completed efficiently and safely, with no impact on day to day operations.
